The Sultan and the Saint
The Sultan and the Saint is a new documentary film from Unity Productions that tells one of the great, lost stories from history.
Set against a backdrop of an epic war, the tale tells of two men of faith; one a Muslim hero and the ruler of a Muslim Empire, the other an itinerant Christian preacher who would become one of Christianity's most revered saints, and how together they vowed to find common ground and mutual respect.
It is the story of the Sultan Al-Kamil of Egypt and Francis of Assisi, and their meeting on a bloody battlefield during the period of Christian-Muslim conflict known as the Crusades. This important historical tale speaks directly to the conflicts of today and is filled with rich drama, fascinating twists and turns, and central characters who are more compelling than even their legends claim.
Atomhawk worked with Unity Productions Foundation to create key images for their script, detailing the look of the sets and characters as well as establishing the mood for these important scenes.
With great attention to historical accuracy, we have created images that reveal not only the brutality of the Crusades, but the deep religious devotion of those who wished for, and worked towards, peace.
