The day-to-day of Atomhawk is a bullet train, always in movement. Artwork creation, project meetings, creative calls and briefings, but in the quiet moments between projects, our team has the opportunity to get playful. Atomhawk’s own version of self-care.

Breaking the rules

Atomhawk was formed in 2009 by a team of four ex-Midway artists and led by industry veteran, Cumron Ashtiani. We were one of the first external development studios of its kind, offering premium concept art and design. During a downturn in the economic market, a young Atomhawk was nimble, embracing this shift with radical ideas. From day one, a core value was to be artist-first. To focus on, platform and celebrate the talent of the team.

Due to strict NDAs on client projects, we had to share our teams’ personal artwork to showcase our skillset and bring in new clients. Sometimes, the team would create bespoke artworks for Atomhawk’s promotion. This is where the tradition of the Christmas Card began. At the end of every year, a custom artwork was created to share with our clients and followers. It is something we have continued every single year since!

Honouring tradition

Since those early days, Atomhawk has grown into a much bigger operation. Department expansion, new service lines and even multiple studios! Though the changes have been significant, one thing has remained: Atomhawk is artist-first.

Client work requires constant creative and critical thinking to create stunning, cutting-edge concepts and solutions. But when a break in that schedule strikes, we grasp the opportunity to give our teams’ brains a rest with just for fun projects. Broad briefs are given, and our talented team are encouraged to lean into their strengths and express themselves.

Just like our Christmas Cards, we now create bespoke artworks every year for Halloween, the festive period, and even Valentine’s Day!

Diversity in common

Another commitment to our people is recognising and celebrating the diversity of our team. In the world of art, pushing boundaries and daring to venture into uncharted territory is a fundamental part of creative exploration. Each individual is unique, and each individuals’ differences share a purpose, not only in society but what they bring to their work.

We mark several Equality, Diversity and Inclusion events during the year, but we can’t do it the ordinary way. We have to do it the Atomhawk way! Having our team handcraft designs for each occasion invites them to play a part in this philanthropy and create something truly authentic to us. And we think they look mighty fine when lined up beside each other.

Believing in unbelievable

Just for fun projects are geared towards training, personal development and self-care. We are not required to do it, but we believe doing them is part of what makes Atomhawk a great place to be. An extra mile of effort and love from Marketing, Production, and the team themselves has resulted in an impressive portfolio for Atomhawk beyond client work.

“It’s a huge passion of mine to ideate, brief and work with the team on these internal projects,” said Justine Colla, Brand Marketing Manager of Atomhawk. “I usually pre-plan the calendar 12 months in advance so when breaks between projects occur, a healthy backlog is ready to go. This means that it’s not one person working their way through all the briefs, but a wonderful breadth of the team which ultimately showcases the immense personality and creativity of Atomhawk.”
